Pixelfed will be a year old in a few days.

I'm a high school dropout that has never taken any CS or computer classes.

Web development is just a hobby of mine, I work in the auto industry.

I'm so proud of this project, I never would have imagined that I could make something like this.

Thank you for helping me realize credentialism isn't so important as you think. ❤️ :pixelfed:

Editing a @librelounge episode about how we make the show. Ironically this show has serious audio issues and has required more editing than any show we've put out in a long time.

Also ironic is that since we recorded the episode, we've already slightly changed our setup!

I'm editing @librelounge We have an on the ground recorded show that has sub-optimal audio.

I'm wondering about releasing it with a warning about how bad the audio is, because the content is still good.

Would love opinions! Feedback?

Watching my partner at a panel about women on gaming put on by Microsoft. So many feels. Supporting her... Glad that MS is encouraging to young women to code. I like game (and even buy proprietary ones every so often). OTOH proprietary software makes me sad.

This episode of Libre Lounge comes from Libre Planet where @joeyh sits down with @cwebber and @emacsen for a conversation about Secure Scuttlebutt, a security conscious offline social network.

I keep trying to upgrade according to the docs on the project and each time I do, it resets itself to "Getting Started". Where do I go for help? (or how do I migrate my keys and followers to something else?)

We continue to receive signatories to our open letter against Copyright directive #article13 #article11 - members of EU parliament, please don't support a bill that will harm IT business in the EU!

Just found out about from @cwebber . This is a great tool to help people get started on the Fediverse!

Glad that the talk actually shifted into medical devices, and I'm not bothered by talking about war and Israel. All war is terrible. But dehumanizing people (calling them wolves and stone cold killers) should not be acceptable at Libre Planet.

At Libre Planet (the FSF annual conference) where the keynote about "medical devices" is (25 minutes in) so far just anti-Israeli propaganda talk, including saying that the only place Israelis wouldn't bomb would be a Coca-Cola factory, out of context footage of Israeli snipers, and comparing Israelis to wolves (killing sheep).

Hey @librelounge listeners.

I'm sick. Nothing serious, just a bad cold. I won't have time to edit the show for this week, at least not by Friday.

I'm probably too sick to attend LibrePlanet too...

> When there's a school shooting, Republicans say we should arm all the teachers.

> Now there's been a mosque shooting, so I'm sure they'll say we need to arm all the Muslims.

The sickos on Slashdot who harassed OSI's Board candidates will be unhappy, but the rest of us are thrilled the electorate has picked an all female cohort to the new Board.

Have complicated authentication and permission systems got you down?

On the latest episode of Libre Lounge, @cwebber and @emacsen invite guest Kate Sills in for a discussion about Object Capabilities, an alternative to identity based permissions.

The Russian attack on ProtonMail represents a new level of attack on Internet communication infrastructure.

The solutions? I'm thinking about technologies like Briar being used for every day communication? And maybe ActivityPub servers that live on TOR?
