At 9am, when the store is just opening, there is already a line that is doubled up across the entire block.
In Feb/March, I quit eating healthy, thinking "There's nothing fun in life so I might as well enjoy food". That lead to me gaining an enormous amount of weight and being my biggest ever. I didn't fit into my old clothes, etc.
For the last few months, I've gone back to the Ketogenic diet, and I've lost enough weight to need different pants, and as of today, a different belt.
I'm not where I was in January, and far far from my goal, but I'm slowly getting there again.
It's a weird world when I wake up and think "I'll make a special trip to Trader Joe's today!".
To understand why this is so strange:
a) Trader Joes is a supermarket.
b) Trader Joes is only 6 blocks from my home
The fact that this is a "special trip" shows just how messed up things have become.
Still... Trader Joe's!
Call for help, OCAP
But I could use some help in making this happen. Is there anyone who knows a little web development who could handle the GUI frontend, and or someone who knows Jitsi and wants to help fix the backend so this overlay wouldn't be necessary?

There are parts of the Jitsi toolset that we could tap into in order to generate something that would essentially provide OCAP-like properties to it without requiring a rewrite.
This could allow organizers to let people in or send invites through a capability token, as well as remove people the same way, without needing to rewrite the core software.
I think this could be done with some existing Jitsi extensions, plus a little bit of Flask or other simple web framework.

My fiancee was on a call on a videoconferencing platform yesterday and the room she was in was intruded upon multiple times by people who came in and caused trouble.
This was a women's group and they were exposed to pornographic images, sounds, threats, etc. not just once, but many times over the span of one hour.
This makes me think that for the Free platforms, we can and must do better. I have a plan and would love some help!
It bothers me that privacy violations are often justified with protection of children. Privacy is critical for everyone, especially for a child during their formative years. Forcibly spying on children instead of just teaching them all you can and trusting them just plants a deepseeded distrust for authority.

An application that can talk to proprietary fitness trackers is an amazing thing:
I do wish there were fully Free fitness trackers, but one problem at a time.
This video from Twitter shows a car trying to run over two Jews:
Yesterday I also found out that Black Lives Matter the organization has put out statements containing antisemitic language.
Black lives *do* matter, and the situation of the treatment of blacks in the US Is a travesty.
I hope that this statement doesn't reflect on the larger Black lives matter movement and that there is room for Jews to be safe too.
This treatment of a diplomat at the US border is quite sickening.
I'm deeply afraid of what will happen with the US in the November election, and even moreso, I worry that this kind of behavior won't be addressed.
Disturbing reports that Google Play is threatening to kick out Mastodon apps. See:
App stores have a track record of acting capriciously & are also easy targets for gov't censors (including Trump). This is why alternatives like @fdroidorg are so important for user freedom.
If unfamiliar: F-Droid is a free & open source app you can use to install other Android apps, with focus on free & open source software. Get it here:

Back in 2004-2005 when I lived in Chicago, my daily train ride took me past a giant billboard for a talk radio station. The billboard just said "Liberals Hate It!".
That's it, that's the sales pitch. Is it good? Is it bad? Who cares, as long as liberals hate it, right? Cuz being a "conservative" isn't about policies, it's a tribal identity based on white grievance and opposition to the media.
People are acting like this is something new to the trump-era GOP, but it has deep roots.
